What Causes Excess Mucus In The Throat And Nasal Congestion?

default
Posted on Thu, 27 Oct 2016
Question: For the past 2 weeks I have had an extreme amount of mucus in my throat. I can't seem to get rid of it. My throat doesn't really hurt, but occasionally feels dry and scratchy. I now feel like something is stuck in my throat every time I swallow. I have some nasal congestion as well. My throat doesn't hurt, its just annoying. I have had no appetite for the past few weeks and when I do eat, food tastes terrible and makes me full very quickly. No stomach pain or indigestion. I am experiencing shortness of breath occassionally. No tonsils. What could this be? I am concerned about cancer.

Brief Answer:
Allergic bronchitis.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
You seem to be suffering from Allergic Pharyngitis that might be associated with Allergic bronchitis.
I would recommend you a combination of Levocetrizine and Montelukast once daily in night for at least 15 days.
Do warm saline gargles and steam inhalation along for symptomatic relief.
If you don't show improvement in next 15 days, we would discuss further course of action required.
I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
