Question: It all started 2 months back when sprained my lower back. I did went for xray but nothing found. I always have right collar neck swollen so mri was done and found that i have neck spondolysis. At the same time i had gastric hence dr admitted me and did all blood test, thyroid test, liver test. My thyroid is fine & my blood count look normal except ESR shows 31 (the rate request to be below 21). My Alt & Ast for liver looks slightly higher which dr say might be fatty liver/medication. I am having some pain/aches at my back and sometimes hips and legs too.My weight also keep increasing since like weekly 100 gram to 200 gram eventhough i take light foods (less sugar, less meats). The worst part is i feel fatigue most of the time, i am a very active person and used to keep myself utilize(gym, extra activities). I am very paranoid and worry about my health. Please help me to tell if i really need to worry much about my health or its something can be cured in a short term period

Brief Answer:
Screening

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Whom do you stay with?
Are you married and have kids?
Are you depressed as well being paranoid? Are you taking enough electrolytes since you are likely to dehydrate with work outs? if not they can put you in fatigue
I do not wish to insult you. The reason I ask is that your reaction to your symptoms is very severe. This is a very common symptom of depression; if an individual is depressed, relatively minor problems become greatly magnified. Spondylosis is found in a lot of people and they get over with pain medicine and exercises. If you are having pain irrespective of pain medicine they do not seem to act. You seem to weighing every day / week and finding minor weight differences which is also a sign of depression when you are actually working to lose.
There are good things like you are working out. Thyroid and blood counts are normal.

I think at this point I would suggest you to get a screening done by a psychologist.

Hi Dr Suma Parinam,

Thanks for your reply.I am married . I stay with my hubby and 5 year old son. We are small and happy family. I understand that i very much concern about my health and worry about it a lot. On my weight I don't check actually but i was noted by my dr upon my bi weekly follow up. I am trying divert my mind but these symptom makes me go crazy. I am not when i need to worry and when i should . Many said i am fit and healthy but when i see the difference in result it makes me go crazy. When i see my husband or my sis eats rice with meats & oily food i will get upset and feel how come they are fine and they dont even take any vitamins or exercise or do annual checkup.
I try to ensure i am fine by doing exercise, take right food on right time & take supplements. My concern is my boy, i need to ensure i am healthy to take care of him till he grows up but these medical results & on and off pain makes me feel discomfort.
Even i think i might have serious disease like cancer and do some tumor maker test. I did a full medical test last Sept'15 and all looks perfectly except cholesterol was at border.
Please tell me how should occupy myself from thinking too much and keep worrying. When should worry about my health.

Brief Answer:
Pause health check for an year

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

You seem to be fit, healthy and practice exercise regularly. This is the best and rare thing one has in this world. I hardly see anyone with these qualities in my clinical practice. Your anxiety is ruining your health and happiness which is already around you. Your brain is unable to perceive it even though you have both of them in life.
You should stop health check ups now. You need once in a year or once in two.
Your cholesterol would be alright as you continue to exercise regularly.
You should not worry about your minor symptoms.
Practice meditation twice a week along with your exercise.

Brief Answer:
No supplements please

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I do not suggest health supplements to anyone unless there is proven deficiency of the same. There is no point in taking them without proof. They will decrease the efficiency of other medicines which are more important, also they affect the metabolism of liver. Like the GGT, AST and ALT may be raised as the liver has to work extra to remove them from the body esp Liv52.

Hope you understand. I still suggest all my healthy patients like you who are active and care about their health to just follow this.
Include all tastes the nature has given a man- soar, sweet (not sugar), bitter etc.
Include all colors in the meal plate in each meal at least on alternate days.

You can google what are those 6 tastes and 7 colors and which are the foods that include them.

All the best.

Hi Dr Suma Parinam,

Thanks and let me consider the 6 taste & 7 colours.

Lately i am having low blood pressure ..reads 90/ 60 or 100/60.

Today it was bad. Is it because i have reduced my sugar, rice & currently having period. I don't seem to feel dizzy during my menstruation all the while.

What can actually help to boost my pressure? Thanks

Brief Answer:
Water and non caffeinated non alcoholic drinks boost

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Please do not worry about those pressures. They are considered normal in medical practice unless you have really bad lowpressure symptoms.
I suggest you to just increase water intake.
Pressure might bring down with menstruation if it is really heavy but generally pressure are up during menstruation because of complex bodily mechanisms.

Wish you good health.
