Question: I feel a slight continuing "electrical shock" type sensation in the upper left portion of my chest. It is not painful and I do not have any pains in my arm. I had my aortic valve replaced 10 years ago and I have not had any issues the replacement since my surgery.

Brief Answer:
Possible neurological issues...

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

Based on what you are describing, the continuing "electrical shock" type sensation you are feeling in the upper left portions of your chest might be related to neurological problems (i.e. compression of vertebral nerve roots).

As you had your aortic valve replaced 10 years ago, I am sure you had regular follow ups with your cardiologist. So far, you are not reporting any issues with the replacement. This strengthen my idea of having neurological problems.

However, if I was your caring doctor would exclude cardiological problems first through:
- ECG
- cardiac echo
- stress test

If everything is ok, then, an X-ray of vertebral column at cervical and thoracic level is needed together with neurologist consultation or further MRI.

For the moment, I advise to take:
- OTC painkillers
- multivitamin supplementation
- any other medications as prescribed by your cardiologist

Hope it answered to your queries! Do write me back if anything unclear!
