Hi,

Welcome to Health Care Magic, Thanks for writing to us,

I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad, I have read your question, I understand your concern and will try to help you in the best possible way.
There is some information gap which i would like to fill by asking you a few important questions which will help me rule in and rule out a few possibilities.

1) What meds are you taking these days please tell me of ANY meds even if a vitamin pill
2) Any fever of flu these days?
3) Any medical issues you have like heart , blood pressure, diabetes or anything?
4) Are you getting bruises too?
5) Were you perfectly fine before that or this started 1 week back altogether?

I am waiting for your input so that i can give you a possible diagnosis and suggestions about it.

Regards,

Brief Answer:
You have to meet your doctor and discuss this before it gets worse.

Detailed Answer:
Hello ,

Thanks for writing back,

I can well understand the anxiety related to the issue and I will hereby try to come up with most comprehensive and helpful answer i can to get him well as early as possible.

There are no clear contributor to his bleeding according to the history and meds he has been using here I will mention some common culprits and then i will suggest you what to do about this problem.

Possible causes:

1)Anticoagulant meds:
Aspirin can cause bleed. Some blood pressure meds do have it.

2)Dietary ingredients:
Certain dietary supplements, such as fish oil and ginkgo, also can increase bleeding susceptibility.

3)Steroids:
Topical and systemic corticosteroids — which can be used to treat various conditions, including allergies, asthma and eczema — cause your skin to thin, making it easier to bleed .

4) Age factor:
Ageing makes blood vessels and skin get more fragile and this can cause bleeding off an on .

5) Viral infections causing low platelet and blood clotting issues.

6) Idiopathic bleeds or thrombocytopenia:
This is decreased platelets, without any evident reason , causing easy bruising and bleeds.

How to deal with it:

1) Contact you doctor immediately. You never know how serious the cause may be , behind the problem.
2)Long-sleeved shirts and pants can provide an extra layer of protection for skin.
3) Taking multivitamin Like Centrum this improves blood clotting ans strengthens vessels.
4) Meet you internist and discuss with him about getting patients' Complete blood count and PT,APTT done to see number of platelets and check if he is having any problem in blood clotting.

Then if tests are abnormal , further work up can be done for diagnosis and treatment.
Till meeting the doctor only protective measures and vitamin supplementation is the main stay or prevention from bleeds.

I Hope this answers your question, if your have more queries feel free to ask, otherwise close the discussion and rate it. Wish you the best of health.

Brief Answer:
A visit to doctor is expected to make many things clear.

Detailed Answer:
Hello ,

Thanks for writing back,
I wouldn't call it impatience, It was you care and concern rather.

As you pay us for the information so very never reply without considered thought and we do as much research we can do before answering.

It may take some time but we try giving our best opinion for your benefit. Claritin is not really expected to cause bleeding disorder it seems to be his fragile skin or some low platelets or deranged clotting, an examination and blood tests will make things clear.

Hopefully everything will be fine , till them he should protect himself from any hits which can cause bleeds.

Stay blessed.

Regards.

Dr.Muhammad Ahmad.
