What Causes Dry Eyes, Severe Strain In Eye, Dull Headache And Tiredness?
Question: I have dry eyes ...I use systane eye drops during the day when the eyes seem strained and genteal eye gel in the night. For the last one week I am feeling a lot of strain in my eye. when I wake up my eyes don't feel well rested and I am feeling constantly tired. as soon as I wake up there is also a dull headache from the right eyelid to the right temple. I have hypothyroidism and I am on 100 mcg Eltroxin for the last 5 yeras5

The symptoms of eye strain can be because of increase in severity of dry eyes or because of thyroid problem.
Hence I would like to advice you to increase the frequency of use of systane eye drops. If the symptoms decrease then this indicates that the problem is because of increase in the severity of dry eyes. If the symptoms persist then it requires evaluation to rule out thyroid eye problems.
Hence as of now I advice you to continue same treatment and increase the frequency of instillation of systane eye drop. I would like to suggest to increase it by 2-3 times over the previous number of times of usage.
