Brief Answer:
Kindly provide important details.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for posting your query to the forum.

I can understand your concern for the dry and itchy skin with feeling of tightness on it.

As i can get from your query that you were using Melaglow and Flutivate from last one year.

Melaglow is quite safe cream but Flutivate being a steroid cream so it never to be used beyond 15 days.

I want to know from your side whether you have use Flutivate cream (with orange carton) or Flutivate ointment ( with blue carton) or both. For how long you used Flutivate, propyzole and eumozone. Have you used these cream as self application or by a dermatologist ' s guidance. Do you feel any redness off and on or any eruptions off and on.

Hope to hear soon from your side.

With regards,

Brief Answer:
"Steroid Abuse" or "Steroid dependence"

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome again to the forum and thanks for sending important details. After analyzing the compete I can make out that you have applied various steroid preparation for long time.

As per the log term usage of steroid your condition is known as "Steroid Abuse" or "Steroid dependence". "Steroid Abuse" or "Steroid dependence" is quite common phenomenon where after long term, injudicious and unregistered use of steroid creams without dermatological supervision leads to the multiple side effects.

All the creams which you have used are basically steroid based cream and on its prolonged use it can cause thinning skin with red irritated skin or even hair growth along with darkness of face. On its prolonged use and then stoppage make our skin habitual and thus you are having the side effects as mentioned by you. As I can make out that you have used the cream for long period of 12 months which caused the problems of redness, flaking, eruptions and darkness.

Any cream containing topical steroid preparations are potentially known to cause side effects on long term or injudicious use in form of thinning of skin, hair growth on affected area and prominence of vessels with rashes.

I very often see person of your age using these kind of creams and later experiencing side effects of the same. Once it is started on face it initially gives fair complexion. This is because of mild stoppage of the activity of color producing cells. In our practice we use this cream but within a short span of 2 weeks we shift with certain other safer creams which are not containing steroids in it.

For the betterment you need to meet a dermatologist who can take off the steroidal side effects slowly with different safer medications. You need to have patience of multiple months to get rid off from the situation.

In my patients of your kind of situation I general prescribe steroid sparing agents to reduce the steroidal side effects.

Additionally using a sunscreen daily helps in reducing he sun damage. It will take bit long time to get better so take a proper guidance form dermatologist in person and follow the suggestions. I again suggest to meet a dermatologist and not a general doctor as you have already got the side effects of using improper usage.

Hope these informations will help you. If you have any further query I will be happy to help or if not then can close the query and rate the discussion.

Brief Answer:
Sun protection and plane moisturising lotion.

Detailed Answer:
Hello young lady,

Welcome again to the forum and thanks for your further follow up.

Steroid abuse is very difficult situation and even in allopathy also we face a lot of problems in the treatment. If you are comfortable with the ayurvedic treatment then there is no issue for the same and you can continue the same.

As you don't have any eruptions presently so is a good sign for you. In my patients I suggest them to apply plane bland moisturizing lotion with sunscreen factors in it ( such as Elovera SPF lotion) in a very thin layer. This lotion will take care of dryness as well as give you sun protection.

It will take quite long time of multiple of months to get better and normalized skin. Our skin takes its own time to get recovered from steroidal side effects so have patience.

Follow a good diet and eat a lot of fruits and green leafy vegetables daily. Keep yourself well hydrated and protect yourself form direct sunlight.

Hope these informations will help you. If you have any further query I will be happy to help or if not then can close the query and rate the discussion.
