What Causes Dizziness, Pain And Bleeding During Pregnancy?

Posted on Wed, 27 Aug 2014
Question: Hi, I am 34 yr. female (wt. 71 kg, ht. 160cm). I am 5 weeks, 4 days pregnant. The first TVS detected significant fluid in the pouch of XXXXXXX I was diagnosed negatively for ectopic pregnancy after ultrasoung and b-hcg. I had TSH of 4.66 last week and was asked to take Thyronorm. My haemoglobin is a bit low (11.6) but everything else is fine. I only have dull lower backaches sometimes but everything else is normal. The doctors asked me to stay on alert for symptoms of haemorrage and get admitted right away if I feel dizzy/palpitations/pain/bleeding. How bad is this? Will my pregnancy be okay?

Brief Answer:
Ectopic pregnancy?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I read your query and I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply:

1) The possibility of ectopic pregnancy exist which is dangerous and life threatening.

2) If no gestational sac is visible on TVS, it is possible that ectopic pregnancy exists especially with fluid in POD.

3) Repeat beta hCG blood test after 48 hours to see doubling of value.

4) Repeat TVS with colour doppler to check presence of ectopic pregnancy.

5) Be prepared to go to emergency if you feel pain or dizziness.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

The scans have already detected an intrauterine pregnancy with gestational sac corresponding to 5 weeks, 4 days. The doctors have ruled out ectopic pregnancy after colour doppler and b-hcg test. Despite this there is the fluid. Can you explain why this might be the case? Thanks in advance.

Brief Answer:
Dont worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

If intrauterine sac is detected then the chances of ectopic pregnancy are low.

The fluid could be due to earlier infection. It is not necessarily related to ectopic pregnancy.

I think you dont need to worry. The chances of ectopic pregnancy are low if sac is sen in uterus.
