What Causes Dizziness And Cold Feet In A Person With Anxiety And History Of Head Trauma?

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Jul 2015
Question: yes, i have been experiencing dizziness and today i woke up with cold feet and hands. I had suffered just recently severe head trauma, due to being hit on the head several times during a 6 month period of time. the dizziness started when i was hit the last time. I do suffer from severe aniety disorder. The county docs prescribed clozipam for the aniety. I cannot take pyscotropics due to rash reactions. Closapam did work but ive been off for over 6 months. I am uncomfortble in going to docs cuz they want to try meds that usually end me in a hospital due to bad reaction or dehydration. I do not know what to do . Im suffering more and more from the dizziness and it scares me. I have a great deal of aniety and because i was in a mental program at one time they usually write it off as a mental condition. So I just dont go for treatments but its is getting to the point of scary

Brief Answer:
Mental relaxation/meditation/Yoga/Clonazepam for the time being.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

I feel concerned for the phase of emotional and physical trauma you have been through.
However, with the background of severe anxiety, responding to clonazepam(and yourself being off clonazepam for 6 months),I suggest you to please start clonazepam therapy again for the time being.Simultaneously, please start doing regular dedicated mental relaxation exercises like meditation or yoga.I am sure you'll show benefit in your symptoms.

Your dizziness appears to be a result of severe anxiety. So,management of anxiety should improve the dizziness.

Besides,I would like to know whether you have ever got any evaluation done for dizziness like-
1)Standing and supine blood pressure(for postural hypotension)
2)Electrocardiogram(ECG) -as you mentioned that you often have tachycardia, pulse rate increased up to 200/min.
3)Blood sugar
I would also like to know whether you are also having some other disease besides anxiety?Any past medical history?

If you have any further queries,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.

Regards
Dr.Ajay Panwar,
MD,DM(Neurology)
