Posted on Fri, 4 Jul 2014
Question: Hi,
I am 34 year old male. From last one and a half years when i start eating i feel kind of dizzy and i feel lost. its like 3-5 seconds spell and what i do during this I do not remember. during this when my wife talks to me i dont answer. But this doesnt happen all then time when i start eating.
I have a tissue built up inside my nose that cause pressure and tingling feeling in my nose area and forehead. i also have continues feeling of tingling in my hand, arms and feet. when this dizzy and lost thing happens this tingling becomes too much. my blood results, thyroid, sugar, are fine.
I thing this is because of the nose problem because this feeling starts from there. I just wana know so expert thoughts . there is still a month in ENT appointment!
Thanks

As below:

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. These symptoms may be due to:
a. Nasal Obstruction due to a DNS (Deviated Nasal Septum , Hypertrophied Nasal Turbinates), a Post Nasal Drip due to Sinusitis.
b. Gastritis or esophagitis due to acid reflux. Vagal stimulation may be the cause for the dizziness.
c. Autonomic Dysfunction including gut motility and temperature sensitivity.
d. Food allergy or intolerance.
e. Postprandial Hypotension.
f. Dehydration.

2. A plain Sinus CT, ENT examination, Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and a Neurology opinion will help.

3. Most of these causes are easily treatable. You may follow up with the reports here.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
