What Causes Discomfort In Abdominal Area?

default
Posted on Wed, 6 May 2015
Question: Hi Dr

I've been experiencing this discomfort in my abdomen area since last 9-10 days. I would say it is more of a discomfort rather than a pain and its continuous.

I took urine, stool tests and as well as ultra sound scanning..

Urine and Stool tests were fine except that it says i have pus cells (3-4 pus cells).
While Ultrasound showed everything as normal but with fatty liver..
Got my lipid profile done, my cholesterol is high too.

I showed it to homeopath and he said it is due to intestinal infection which is causing the trouble, but would appreciate if you can help me with this.

Best regards,

Brief Answer:
Widal and stool test / 5 day course

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Nice to see you again.

Read and understood your concerns, history, investigations reports that you have noted here.

My thoughts:
Discomfort in the abdominal are for 9 to 10 days indicates that there has to be a problem. This can be due to the following:
Subacute intestinal infection.
Enteric fever that body has taken care of.
Disturbed bacterial intestinal flora.
Intolerance to certain foods or beverages (that you only can notice and know)

I would advise you in such a situation the following:
- Repeat stool test and blood Widal for Typhoid.
- Prescription based 5 day course of an antibiotic, Metronidazole.
Add-on Probiotic, Activated Charcoal tablets, Multivitamins.

Treatment for Cholesterol and fatty liver under Physician's guidance in the combination of diet control, exercises and medicines.

I hope this answer helps you to get a proper relief and proper further treatment. Please feel free to ask for more if you need to or if you feel that there is a gap of communication.

Hello Doctor,

It's good to see you again, and hope you're doing well.

I will get the tests done which you mentioned and will get back to you. Meantime, is there anything i should be worried about or is this typical/common health issues?

Although the pain is very mild, it bothers me when i feel the discomfort around my both side upper/middle abdomen, even while sitting or laying down. I'm nowadays adjusting my posture to feel comfortable.

Do you thing endoscopy would be of any help here?

If at all if it is an infection, can you tell how much time it would require to heal and not to feel discomfort?. At least i will not worry myself till then :)

Thank you so much

Brief Answer:
Awaited feedback and the reports.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
I am fine and thank you.

This does not look to be a worrisome problem.
If you have to adjust the posture mean you certainly have a problem.

Colonoscopy is to be done if the medicinal course fails to give the results.
Once you start the course, it is usually the same day you start getting the relief, if the antibiotic is working well.

Nothing to worry XXXXXXX this should get well very soon.

Awaiting for your reports and feedback.
