default
Posted on Mon, 30 May 2016
Question: I am 58 years old, black female with high blood pressure not medicated at the moment. About three months ago I woke up with a scar under my left nosril. I looked at my nose and there was discoloration inside. There was no pain and I am waiting for the discoloration to subside and it is slowly. There isalso mild discoloration in the left nostril but did not discolor the skin like the right nostril. I am not in pain.

Brief Answer:
upload the pictures if possible, diclofenac for pain, steam inhalation

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.
It is difficult to comment on this without examination, so I would like you to upload the picture if possible for better assessment and to provide you with specific advice.

Is there any history of injury?
How does this discoloration occurred?
Do you have habbit of nose picking?
Have you shown this to ENT specialist? Is this been examined by doctor?
Do you have sinus infection? Do you have any difficulty in breathing?

I would like to know what is bothering you now. Is it the pain?

Presently I would suggest you to avoid nose picking of you do, continue saline drops, for pain you can take over the counter agents like diclofenac or paracetamol. Steam inhalation with few drops of eucalyptus oil in it 2 to 3 times a day, help in keeping the nostrils moist. Avoid staying in dry and cold weather for long.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

I hope this suggestion might be of some help to you.
Take care.

Thank You,Dr.kolur I will buy a humidifier, and saline solution and eucalptus oil. I rarely have colds or pick my nose. I just woke up one day and my nose was inflamed and raw discoloration under my notrils all the way to my upper lip. I am not in pain or have difficulty breathing. My nose stings a little and I wondered why I have so much discoloration underneath my nose(embarassing). I have high blood pressure and a medium amount of eczema but have never had any problem right up under my nostril. Thank You for your time and have a wonderful day!
