What Causes Difficulty In Urination After Kidney Transplant?
First confirm whwther his bladder is full of urine or not.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your son who is suffering from Chronic Renal Failure has no sensation to pass urine.
I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on his problem
1) Does his bladder distended with urine ?.
2) Does he have pain in lower abdomen due to distended bladder?.
First confirm whether his bladder is full of urine or not.
Since he is having chronic renal failure it is possible the his kidneys may not be producing sufficient quantity of urine .
If his bladder is distended you may ask him to move around and give hot water bag fomentation bellow umbilicus and ask him to stand in toilet for few minutes .
With this he should be able to pass urine.
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

Hello
Thanks for follow up.
Maintain intake output chart for few days to be sure about urine production by kidneys .
It is likely that though the intake may be adequate kidneys fail to produce urine in sufficient quantity.

He was given an IV and they did an ultrasound which didn't show stones? Hard to tell because his disease causes calcification. Also, they did see urine in his bladder but he could void. He is home and still doesn't feel the sensation to pee and also his kidneys hurt a little.
Do you think there is a need for high concern? He is to see his nephrologist on friday of this week. I would hate for him to get an infection. They did not put him on antibiotics because he didn't show bacteria. (he never does because of his disease)
Thanks for your time!
Not to have sensation is not related to his kidney disease.

Hello
Thanks for follow up.
Not to have sensation od urge to pass urine is not due to his kidney disease .
You should not get worried as long as he does not have infection
..
Give him bladder training to empty his bladder at frequent intervals even if he does not have urge to pass urine.
Ensure he drinks ore water ..
You can discuss doing Cystometry and Urodynaemics studies with your Nephrologist to evaluate his bladder function.
Thanks and Regards.
Dr.Patil..

Hello
Thanks for follow up.
Maintain intake output chart for couple of weeks and if his output is satisfactory you need not worry at all .Continue bladder training programme I have suggested earlier.
It is not a neurogenic bladder as you have done his Urodynaemic study which is reported to be normal.
Thanks and Regards.
Dr.Patil.
Nothing to be worried about.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up. You should not worry as long as his output is good and does not have UTI.
You can explore about the outcome and results of renal transplant with your Nephrologist at earlier stage of his Dents Disease of Kidney when his creatinine levels are not that high (3.2).
