What Causes Difficulty In Breathing While Suffering From A Nasal Blockage?
Question: Hi doctor
My nostrils are frequently blocked especially the right one. Because of this i feel difficulty in breathing. I have congenital heart defect of single ventricle. Could this be a symptom of my disorder or is it not at all relared to my disorder? I do not have any other symptoms though except the nose blockage.

The complain of nasal blockage seems probably not related with your congenital heart defect of single ventricle.
The common cause of nasal blockage in your case might be a deviated nasal septum,enlarged inferior turbinate(turbinates are mucosa lined bony shells inside the nasal cavity.The mucosa may get swollen in case of allergy/infection),etc.
It would be advisable to consult an Otolaryngologist doctor(ENT specialist) to have Endoscopic examination of your nose to find the cause and treat accordingly.If needed later,a CT scan(paranasal sinus) might be needed to find out the diagnosis.

Thank you doctor. I will consult the doctor soon. But just wanted to understand that if it is a serious concern or medically manageable? Also to describe the problem in detail, I tend to put efforts to breath especially at nights, however I am easily able to breath through mouth. During the day nasal blockage occurs at irregular intervals and it gets normal by itself.

If it is enlarged turbinate bone in the nose causing blockage,then topical nasal steroids and decongestant might be helpful.
If there is any other obstruction in the nose,then surgery might be needed to remove the obstruction.
