Brief Answer:
The stress on your body from your illness can affect your hormones

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

Having a severe illness like the flu can cause a tremendous amount of stress on your body, and that can affect your hormonal cycling. Many women either miss their period or have spotting when they are sick or have been recently ill.

Vaginal discharge, if it is clear or white and does not have a bad smell or itch, can be just due to fluctuating hormones. It is nothing to worry about and I am sure it will go away after you get better. If you have any other symptoms like itching or an odor, then you may have a vaginal infection and need a cream for treatment.

I hope I was able to answer your question today and that my advice was helpful. If you need anything further, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best wishes, and I hope you feel better, Dr. Brown

Thank you so much! I have been extremely worried. You have no idea how much you have helped, Dr. Brown. Should I take something for the diarrhea?

Brief Answer:
The most important thing with diarrhea is to stay well hydrated

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for your kind words.

Regarding the diarrhea: if you are able to hold down medication without vomiting, over-the-counter medications to treat diarrhea, like Pepto Bismol may help. Immodium is a last resort because it can make you very constipated after, but if your diarrhea is watery it might be a good idea.

But the most important thing is to stay hydrated... mixing something sweet (like a little non-acid fruit juice like apple juice) with water and try to drink at least 3 liters per day. You can see when you get more hydrated your urine will get more clear.

So see how you feel, if the diarrhea isn't watery you can probably get away without taking something. It's up to you.

Anyway again I do hope you feel better and thank you for using my services and Healthcaremagic.com

Take care, Dr. Brown
