What Causes Diarrhea And Cough?

default
Posted on Tue, 16 Sep 2014
Question: HI our son (9 months) is having cough and fever since last 10 days... since last five days he is also having loose motions (5-7 per day).
Doctor suggested Crocin for fever initally, but fever kept raising at times it reached as high as 103.
So doc suggested Mephtal-P (3ml) if fever is high. Since last 2 days she asked to start Oflox and Ascrodil.
And today she suggested to add in Clamp suspension.
We have done malaria test its normal, CRP is normal (1.9), CBP is normal range chest x-ray is normal, abdoman sonography which is again normal.
We have given sample for stool test and urine test will get reports tomorrow.
We are really confused as to what is the problem.
He is not taking any food only feeding, If fever is down he plays around but he is weak and lost almost 700 grms in last 10 days.

Please suggest if we are missing something

Brief Answer:
Viral illness.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the query.
As you said the reports are normal.
It looks like viral illness.
Loose motions may be due to cough.
Many times toxins by infecting organism in the respiratory tract causes loose motions which is called as par-enteral diarrhea.
On other side clamp contains amoxycillin which may increase the loose motions.
If I would be the treating doctor I would suggest my patient
1. Probiotics like econorm XXXXXXX
2. Continue Ascoril drops or syrup.
3. For fever Ibugesic-plus.
4. Avoid fruit juice and top milk.
5.Oral Rehydration solution.
6. If not responded then tab. Zithrox plus kid for five days.(cefixime+azithromycin) or cedon oral drops along with injectable amikacin, depending on cough and loose motions after discussing with your treating doctor.
Hope I helped you.
