What Causes Diarrhea And Burning Sensation Around The Anus?

default
Posted on Wed, 4 May 2016
Question: Three weeks ago I was diagnosed with collagenous colitis and given Uceris 9mg. That took care of the diarrhea. Two days ago, I started feeling a burning sensation around and in my anus. Today I had diarrhea all day and the burning is much worse. It burns even when I am not having a bowel movement. I did not have this burning with the previous flareup three weeks ago. This is getting really painful and I don't know the cause or what I can do for relief. I hope you can help me. Thank you so much

Brief Answer:
Microscopic / collagenous colitis needs supportive care.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Collagenous colitis is a form of microscopic colitis and present with extreme watery diarrhea , abdominal cramps and some times even fecal incontinence.

Medications , bacteria or viral infections and immune system problems like celiac disease, rheumatoid arthritis etc can be the cause of the colitis. Smoking and age above 50 have also been the commonest etiology.

Just eat more fiber, small frequent meals, more fluids , avoid dairy, fatty products, spices, stimulants, coffee, tea, soda, alcohol, processed and canned foods, confectionaries, discontinue any medication that could possibly be the cause of your colitis ( let your doctor point that out for you from your medications list) . Corticosteroids, bile acid blockers and anti diarrheal medications are the treatment options and help mostly.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
