What Causes Delayed Periods?

Question: Doctor,
My partner had her last period on 13th aug. We had contact on 19th and 20th. And in 20th we did it 3 times in a row. But I didn't ejaculate in her.
After 3 days she got small pain like periods in her lower abdomen. After two days she gt a mall sticky clear discharge .

The pain lasted only 4 days. On September 4th she got her ovulation discharge like she used to get every month. But this time it is some days late. Her Periods was due on sep 12th as per her previous cycle history.

We did a home pregnancy urine test. It came out negative. But her periods hasn't Come yet.

Please help us doctor.
We are really tensed.

This time her ovulation discharge is late.. I'm really tensed doctor..

Sometimes there is a delay without any reason.

You can wait for a few more days.

But if you want an answer immediately then you have to get a transvaginal sonography now.

My advise is that you wait for 2 more weeks.

Dear doc.
Thank u for getting bk to me.
Doc can u tell me few things.
As I told u she got her ovulation discharge on sep 4th. So does that mean shes safe from pregnancy?

And doc she took a contraceptive pill to force her period.

Doc can u tell my what may b the reason she had the cramps and small wetness.
She cant come out very often due to recent restrictions by her parents. We did urine test. Can it b trusted?

Doc please guide me through. ..

1) Yes, chances are HIGH that she is safe if she ovulated on sep 4th and you had sex ONLY before that date.

2) Also if she took the pill then chances are pretty HIGH she is NOT pregnant.

3) Sometimes before ovulation women get pain as the egg irritates the abdomen wall. It is completely NORMAL and has a name too "mittelschmerz" . You can google everything about it.

4) Urine test so early is not CONFIRMATORY.

My advise is wait for 2 more weeks and then get a urine test or if possible (and better) a sonography.

It's because of my tension I'm texting you again. .

Doctor. . Is there any risk of pregnancy from the natuaral lubricantion we get. .
She took the contraceptive pill yesterday to force her period. . Hw effective can that be. .

Doctor. . After 3 days from contact. . She started having light lower abdominal cramps for 3 days and she even got some discharges. . Her ovulation discharge came almost on the 22nd day after her last period. . Does that mean anything doctor. .

She has been drinking pineapple juice and also taking vitamin c tabs for inducing periods..

Doctor. . How much risk are we facing here. . Can u Kindly help me out. ..

There might be a possibility depending on what exactly happened.

What exactly do you mean by lubrication ?

Can you describe in detail what exactly happened?

The lubricantion liquid that comes in the male genital area when we get an erection.. The clear slimy liquid thats what I meant by lubricantion. Doctor. As I told u.. We had sex on both of the days.. On 19th and 20th aug. And i pulled out on time bfr ejaculation. The last date of her period was on 12th aug. 3 days after sex she started feeling some small pain on her lower abdomen. Then she told she is felling some small discharge which is clear and slimy.. It lasted for 4 days then it stopped.. Then on September 4th.. she told she got the ovulation discharge that she used to get before. . When we counted the days from her last period.. her period was due in 10th September. Til now nothing has come. . So we tried a urine pregnancy test kit using the first urine in the morning. That came negative. . Doctor. But still no periods are coming. Doctor can I talk to u in person if possible.. That would really help.. I read in net that periods will come only after 14 days from ovulation discharge. . Doctor. . Is there anything like that. . Can I talk to uu please. . Is she pregnant??

Calm down. DO not worry.

I would love to talk to you and relieve your anxiety but unfortunately such service is not allowed as per rules of this website.

Also you will be making an overseas call which will be costlier than this.

From what you told me i can tell

SHE IS MOST PROBABLY NOT PREGNANT.

If you are too worried and cannot wait for 2 weeks then i suggest you give her Tablet Medroxyprogesterone (Deviry) for 5 days.

After she finishes the course she will get her periods for sure.

Mostly 14 days is the norm but it is not 100% . Some women can be late sometimes.
