Brief Answer:
Please repeat the HPT after 3-4 days and plan further.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.

At the outset, let me inform you that whatever the cycle length may be, with a regular cycle, ovulation time can be predicted as this occurs two weeks prior to the date of onset of the next menstrual period. In your case, this would fall around the 30th of January.

Spermatozoa can remain active for up to 5 days after ejaculation while the ovum can live only for 24 hours after release in the natural circumstances. Therefore, an intercourse 5 days prior and a day after ovulation can cause conception. Since you had the intercourse during the fertile days, your chances of conception are fairly high.

Home pregnancy tests read well when performed 3-7 days after a missed period with a fresh early morning sample of urine. You can either repeat the test after 3-4 days if you do not get your period or go for the blood test now.

If positive and if you do not wish to retain the pregnancy, you can get an induced medical/surgical abortion under medical supervision. You should see an expert, get a proper clinical exam, blood counts, urinalysis and a trans-vaginal sonogram to locate the gestation sac and the age of the pregnancy. If deemed fit, you will be given medication and an abortion induced. The whole process takes 2-3 days. Follow up is done after two weeks along with a repeat sonogram to ensure completion of the process. Surgical abortion is done after 9 weeks of pregnancy and prior to this period, if medical abortion is not suitable.

Hope your query has been clarified. Please feel free to contact for further information. I will be happy to help.

Brief Answer:
Negligible when done under medical supervision.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing back.

Firstly, please confirm/exclude pregnancy as suggested. When the abortion is done under medical supervision, chance of complication is negligible. You should maintain proper genital hygiene, take adequate rest and good diet.

Hope this helps.

Brief Answer:
Your chances of pregnancy are moderate.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing again.

Your chances of pregnancy are moderate since you had the intercourse 5 to 6 days ahead of your ovulation date.

As per norms, to induce an abortion permission of both the partners is needed even if it is a legal pregnancy.

As you are unmarried, you need consent from a relation, usually a parent.

Hope this helps.

regards,
Shanti.V.
