Question: Hello Doctor, I'm XXXXXXX from XXXXXXX I have started taking Ovral-L from 13-5-2017 for 21 days and it has ended on 02-06-2017. Even though I was on this birth-control pill, my husband always uses external contraceptives to avoid any unnecessary pregnancy risks. Now my problem is I'm not getting my periods. As per the instruction literature periods is supposed to start after the 21 days course is over, but today is the 4th day, where there's no sign of menses. I would like to know is it a normal attribute of this pill or do any serious problem is brewing up inside me.
Kindly guide me with your valuable inputs, Doctor!
With Regards, XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Hello Dr. XXXXXXX
Thanks for helping me to sort out my issues. The replies for your questions are as follows:
a) I have started taking the pill (Ovral-L) from 13-05-2017 till 02-06-2017. For the first time I used this, prior to this I never used Ovral-L.
b) The purpose of taking this pill was dual - contraception and making my periods regular (as I do have a history of irregular periods due to hormonal issues).
c) No, I have a record of irregular periods.
d) Yes, I do take Thyrox-25 (1 full tablet and another 1/2 tablet) every early morning after waking up from sleep. I'm using this since around 2 years. I have been told by my doctor to use this for regularizing the periods - and sometimes it do regularized the same.
e) Weight - 62.5kg, Height - 5 feet 5 inches (approx)

I hope I have furnished you with all the appropriate details.
Waiting for your valuable reply.

Thanks Doctor! XXXXXXX

Thank you for the requisite details, XXXXXXX
When was your last thyroid level tested - irregular periods maybe caused by disturbed thyroid levels also.
So please get TSH levels tested.
Wait for 4 more days for your period to start.
IF it does not start, please take a pregnancy test ( even though the possibility of a pregnancy is very remote ) and please report back to me.
Take care.
Sometimes, stress etc can delay your periods.

Thanks Dr. XXXXXXX for your caring inputs. Well, chances of pregnancy is remotest of the remote that we know quite well as I told you already that my hubby (till date) always use external contraception and that has never gone damaged like ruptured etc yet. Well, I had tested my TSH quite some months back. Let me search the report in this regard. Also let me see for 4 days as you said and if things are not get straightened by then, I'll obviously report back to you.

Thanks Doctor! XXXXXXX
