What Causes Cyst In Right Ovary?

default
Posted on Fri, 4 Sep 2015
Question: Hi there
My right ovary f1 was 27 by 26 mm, and left ovary f1 was 21 by 14 on day 14. Doctor gave me hcg injection on day 15. On day 16 repeated the scan and now it's measured as right 32 by 30 follicular cyst and left 24 by 23. End thick is 11 mm. Is there any chance of left ovary follicle to get rupture. What is the reason for right ovary to go for cyst.

Brief Answer:
simple follicular cyst formation

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to hcm for an opinion,
The protocol for ovulation induction and hcg timing was correctly followed at follicular size above 22mm and ideally there should have been ovulation within 36 hrs of HCG injection trigger.
Ideally a repeat scan on day 17-18 should also be done to confirm presence and persistence of simple follicular cyst as the follicle of size 32x30mm may burst. if it doesn't then the most likely cause would be increased androgen levels in the ovarian milieu which prevented follicle rupture.
Causes for the same can be PCOS most commonly.
You need to give a detailed history of your cycles and as to why you were offered ovulation induction?
A more detailed history would be further helpful.

Hi there thanks for your reply. My periods are quite normal with 26 days cycle. I have history of multiple fibroids, have been trying for second baby, that is the reason hcg was given. Is there chance that follicular cyst will get rupture. Any chances of pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Multiple fibroids is actually not an indication for hcg trigger during follicular monitoring. Were you given clomifene tabs as well?
If the follicle doesn't rupture in next 12 hrs then there are all chances that it would form a follicular cyst.
ONCE CYST IS FORMED THEN THERE WOULD BE NO OVULATION AND HENCE NO PREGNANCY CHANCES DURING THIS CYCLE.
