Brief Answer:
Probably stress; possible addition of medication

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to HCM and thank you for your question. I understand your concern.

I carefully read your query and these are not normal blood pressure figures. Now, blood pressure is a variant parameter of the body which may ondulate between small or great ranges during a day, even physiologically.

For instance, during physical activity or episodes of excessive stress and anxiety, it could spike to these figures. I would, however, recommend that the best way to find out whether this is your blood pressure figures' trend during all day or they are just spikes in moments of engagement, is to wear a 24-hour blood pressure monitor.

If the resulting figures are higher than 140/90 mmHg throughout the day, then increasing the dose of metoprolol to 100 mg a day and/or addition of an Angiotensinogen Converting Enzyme Inhibitor (ACE-I) to the therapy, would be appropriate. The aim is to keep the blood pressure under the figures provided a couple of lines above.

I hope to have been of help. I am happy to help, if you have follow-up questions.

Best regards,
Dr. Meriton
