Brief Answer: Follow the below precautions... Detailed Answer: Hi. I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns. Constipation is caused by some factors: low fiber diet, hormonal disorders(low thyroid function), anal fissure, hemorrhoids and rectal polyp. Follow these precautions to treat constipation: 1. You should eat foods that contain high amounts of fiber, kiwis and honey. 2. Eliminate coffee, milk and spicy foods. You also need the following tests to get the right diagnosis: - Complete blood count. - Liver function test. - Thyroid function test. - Urine test. - Fecal occult blood test. - Abdominal ultrasound. - Fibrorectosigmoidoscopia(Colonoscopy). The results will show if your disease is functional(Colon irritable) or organic(injury of rectum and sigma). Contact your gastroenterologist. Ask me for anything unclear. Regards. Dr. Behar.
