Question: Well, I feel like my clitoris is over stimulated. I have a constant need to urinate and when I do when the urine stream comes in contact with my clitoris it's very painful. Almost like an electric current. My husband and I haven't had sex for some time now and I haven't been masturbating. I have no idea what caused this problem. I just want to know how to get relief NOW. I tried a warm bath, but that didn't help. Please....please help me! I'm 48 years old and peri menopausel

Brief Answer:
Could be urethral irritation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

At your age, dryness of the vagina is a common problem and so is the thinning of the mucosal lining of the urethra. This makes it prone to infections frequently as the natural barrier of resistance is low.

Your symptoms suggest some urinary infection, perhaps urethritis. You need to get urinalysis and see a specialist for a clinical evaluation. It is also possible that there could be some abrasion on the clitoris that is causing the pain.

Urinary anti-spasmodics, antibiotics if there is an infection and alkalinizers often help to relieve the condition. Also, please ask your consultant if you need HRT to prevent such problems in future.

Hope I have clarified your query. Please feel free to contact for any more information. I will be happy to help.

regards,

In the past several years I have become prone to frequent urinary tract infections. And even though I've never had this problem with a uti in the past, could this possibly be a symptom of a uti?

Brief Answer:
As below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing back.

As I have already mentioned, these symptoms can be related to an infection of the urinary tract and also a possible abrasion on the clitoris causing the painful sensation while passing urine.

A local examination and urinalysis will help to understand the underlying cause.

Hope I have cleared your doubt. Please get back if you need any more information. I will be ready to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.
