What Causes Constant Runny Nose In A Child?

default
Posted on Mon, 24 Oct 2016
Question: Hi,
My 7 month daughter is suffering from running nose for the past 2 days. She is not having fever and is otherwise fine, doing the routine activities normally. We have applied Vicks vaporub on her chest and back for relief, however, she is not getting any relief from running nose.
Please advise if we should give her any medicine or any home remedy that we can try in this regard.
Thanks, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Give cetirizine.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. Runny nose is due to an allergic reaction which is often associated with viral infections. I would insist you to give her cetirizine syrup 1 ml once daily for the next few days. It would take 3-5 days and then resolve. Nothing else needs to be done.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
