What Causes Constant Drainage And Stuffiness In Sinuses When Diagnosed With Influenza-A?

Question: I was diagnosed with Influenza A on Dec 8. Super sick for about 10 days then slowly started to feel better except for this constant drainage and stuffiness in my sinuses. Started coughing really bad again Sunday night, Dec 28. Coughed all day Monday and I could tell I had a Fever but I was at work and didn't have a thermometer to check my temp, so I took Ibuprofen which seemed to help the body aches. Woke up Tuesday morning at around 3:30 am and I hurt so bad the air in the room made my skin feel like it was on fire. Then I got the chills so bad I couldn't stop shaking and sobbing uncrontollably for 2 hours. Finally went to Instacare Dr. Tuesday afternoon who said I had a horrible sinus infection as a result of the Influenza. Started taking Augmentin Tuesday night and it's now Friday and I feel worse not better. I still have Fevers up to 101 and then they break for about 10 hours, then the cycle continues. I've never had a fever cause the shakes and my body to be so sensitive to everything before. The cough is traveling deeper into my chest and hurts to cough, like I can't get enough air exchanged. Now to boot I started with diarrhea from antibiotic this morning. Help, I need to start feeling better and I'm worried the antibiotic isn't working or I need an Inhaled Corticosteroid to boost? Any suggestions? I'm a 36 year old female with no other health problems, thank you

Brief Answer:
may need intravenous antibiotics.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for your query.
In my opinion, if with 3 days of augmentin, you are not feeling better, then I feel the infection is severe. You may need admission and intravenous antibiotics, nebulization, blood work, chest xray, sputum analysis to detect the cause of disease. Inhaled corticosteroids also will be helpful. This needs clinically evaluation and treatment. I would suggest you to consult with the doctor and get evaluated. There is no empirical treatment untill the disease is evaluated.

Hope my answers have helped you. Thanks.
