Brief Answer:
you should check again

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

cold extremities with rigor usually signifies infection. Rigor is a sign of a serious infection most of the times. I doubt that the drugs caused this situation to him. When the rigor is ongoing, the temperature may still be misleadingly low. After the rigor subsides the temperature rises to the real values. The only way to get accurate measurements during the rigor is by placing a thermometer in the rectum.

You should visit your doctor for clinical examination and assessment of your husband's condition. When rigor is present the doctor always looks for infections particularly in the urine, lung and the abdomen.

Some tests which may help include a full blood count and C-reactive protein (quantitative). High WBC counts with a high percentage of polymorphonuclear cells and a high C-reactive protein are suggestive of bacterial infection.

You're welcome

Glad to help!

You've got to get him to the doctor now. Rigor is not a good sign! Some common infections (like influenza) may present with rigor but most of the times more serious infections is the cause.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
