What Causes Cold, Cough And Pain In The Left Side Of The Throat?

Question: I recently recovered from a cold with a bad cough and suddenly got a sharp pain on the left side of my throat, I get the pain whenever I cough, the only other symptom is when I try to yell I get a pain and my voice is not clear and sharp when I yell , other than that I have no pain and my voice is fine when talking normally.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

Looking at your symptoms,there is a possibility of mild inflammation in your throat and Larynx(Voice box) ,which is causing pain on coughing and yelling.

You may find relief by taking Analgesic with Anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen with Antacid like Rantac.

Also Don't try to cough or yell forcefully.
Don't shout or whisper.Give voice rest for atleast 7-10 days.Speak only if required.Speak softly after taking deep breath.

Also do steam inhalation.Do warm saline gargles.Avoid cold,spicy and oily food.Avoid dust.Drink lots of warm fluids.
