What Causes Cold Chills After A Miscarriage?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Dec 2015
Question: I had a miscarriage 10/25/2015 midnight into 10/26/2015. I was bleeding from medium heavy, and then lighter towards the first week of November. I also took the morning after pill a few days before seeing my gyn for miscarriage follow up, because my partner wont wear a condom believes in pull out method only. On 11/7/15 I saw gyno for the follow up visit. On 11/11/15 I saw my gyn for an annual exam. On the afternoon of 11/11/15 i was in my car it was 90 degrees and I had cold chills. I am scared to death that I am pregnant again. I am not ready to have another pregnancy and stressing out because my last two failed pregnancies I had cold chills during the first trimester.

What could be causing these cold chills? Can I take a pregnancy test today and it show hcg levels?
Please help I am very scared and worried I need answer today.

Brief Answer:
chances of pregnancy are rare

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to healthcare magic.I understand your concern.
Iam Dr.Srilatha gynaecologist.I have gone through your query.
In my opinion now the bleeding in your case
can be due to irregular intake of birth control pills or due to morning after pill.
Both of them cause hormonal imbalance leading to irregular bleeding.
Also the cause of chills is not due to pregnancy. As the continuous bleeding occurred in the past couple of weeks might have lead to anaemia.
Anaemia is the reduction of HB which can cause chills and rigors or it might be due to any infection.
As you dont have any fever the signs of infection can be ruled out.
So nothing to worry.Chills are not the sign of pregnancy.
After miscarriage HCG will be elevated for a few days to weeks.
So for confirmation ultrasound can be helpful or serial serum HCG estimation.
Relax.There is nothing to worry.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss furthur.

I am not bleeding it stopped before 11/7/2015.

However, last week I did get a discharge mucus with some blood in it I am not sure after I took morning after pill and it was definately before my follow up with gyn and vaginal ultrasound. I am not sure if that was implantation or that it was the ending of the miscarriage. I have been with boyfriend he keeps using pull out method. He wont use a condom I started birth control pills last Sunday, but I forgot to take them two days this week and also Friday and Saturday.
So I took two together the first time I missed them, and today I took Fri and Sat pills together too. Do I need to throw out the pack and start over?

How long will I have to try to convince him to use a back up method of birth control since I messed up on the first week of the pack of birth control pills pack?
I got cold chills both times I got pregnant with the my two failed pregancies.
I never get cold chills like that only when expecting.

I have in the past but when sick, and I am not sick. I am trying to relax but it is hard.

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Back up is required for whole cycle

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,I got your query.I understand your situation.
After going through your query I came to know that there is irregular intake of birth control pills.
As your partner is not consistent with barrier method and there is problem of irregular intake of pills there are other methods like hormonal implants or patches or 3 monthly depo hormonal injections which doesn't need to take daily.
As I explained you in your previous query the chance of pregnancy is rare. The chills might be a coincidence both times.
But if you want to be double sure consider getting an ultrasound and serum HCG estimation.
As there is irregular intake of pills it is better
to use back up method with condom until the completion of pack to prevent the risk of pregnancy.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss furthur.

What is HCG estimation through the bloodwork I have done in the past? My doctors wont do it unless my urine test shows positive.

Also, what do I do or what can I buy other than condoms he refused to wear them yet is not able to pay for a baby expenses either. At this point I have to do all the protection and keep myself from getting pregnant because he is irresponsible with birth control on his end.

It is upsetting to be honest.

Brief Answer:
Depo or implantable device are best for your condition.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,

Good day,

I can understand your concern.

Serum HCG estimation is a kind of blood test used to confirm pregnancy when urine pregnancy test is not helpful.

it is more accurate than urine dipstick to confirm pregnancy.

Birth Control shot is a good option for you as contraception.

The birth control shot is an injection of a hormone that prevents pregnancy. Each shot prevents pregnancy for three months.

The shot is also known by the brand name Depo-Provera, or by the name of the medicine in the shot, DMPA.

Keep in mind the birth control shot doesn’t protect against sexually transmitted infections. Use a latex or female condom to reduce the risk of infection.

Hope this satisfies your query.

Feel free to discuss further.

Ok I have heard of female condoms before but never used one.
I was thinking of any spermicides I can inject internally before sexual intercourse as a back up method since he refuses to wear condom says it does not feel the same with a condom.

Brief Answer:
female condoms are available

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,I got your query.
In my opinion female condoms also offer good protection if used correctly.
But their efficacy is less than male condoms.
But they can be preferred when male partner is not interested to use condom.
They can be used along with lubricants.
Coming to spermicide jelly they are not available which can be injected directly into vagina.
The spermicidal jelly are available which can be injected into condom.
Also you can follow natural or calendar method if your menstrual cycles are regular. The protection rate with this method is inferior to other methods.
The intercourse is done during the safe period and avoided during the unsafe period.
The safe and unsafe periods are calculated depending on the menstrual cycle.
This can be done by subtracting 14 days from the date of expected period. For example if the expected period is on 28 then 28-14=14 ;ie.,14 th will be the ovulation date.
Then 3 days on with side of it ie.,11 to 17 is unsafe period.
This is possible only in case of regular cycles where one can expect the period date.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss furthur.
