Question: Hello, I've been experiencing knee clicking for a month now every time i walk up the stairs. there is no pain or tenderness whatsoever. I noticed that if i hold the patella in place with my hand and go up the stairs it doesn't click. what does that mean?

Brief Answer:
Can be due to decreased joint lubricants.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The clicking is due to the sound of patella striking the bone surface. This can happen due to minor decrease in joint lubricants or a capsular inflammation. If it is not associated with any pain then there is no need to worry. You can start with joint lubricant supplements like glucosamine or dycerin to take care of this problem. Using a pair of knee supports will also help.
I hope this answers your query.
