What Causes Chronic Nausea And Abdominal Pain With Normal CT Scan?
Question: I continue to suffer from chronic nausea, abd and back pain. CT scan,MRCP, and blood work for inflammation and thyroid were normal. I had an SIBO test which was positive and was treated with antibiotics. Several docs on this site have suggested I have reflux. My last endoscopy was March and showed reflux and GERD. I feel like I must have cancer or something because I am nauseated most of the time. Are chronic nausea and abd pain consistent with reflux? I am also able to sleep and have not had heartburn.

Do you have a feeling of having a mass in the abdomen?
Do you have breathing difficulty?
Do you have any paplitation?
Have you had any seizures, loss of conciousness or other neurological symptoms?

No none of those Also have lots of phlegm and dry cough. Sometimes gag.

Those were the typical features of cancer. They are usually present in almost all cancers. So I think you would agree it's not a cancer.
Besides, the symptoms suggest a malignancy developing in stomach. You said that this showed only signs of acidity.
So I think you have only gastritis with GERD as suggested endoscopy. As for cough, those features can be explained by GERD too. They are called the extra esophageal symptoms of GERD.

I don't think that agree that it is not cancer. Symptoms seem to suggest pancreatic cancer. Is MRCP conclusive to rule that out?

Well that was comforting. Do you feel symptoms are consistent with something other than gerd or reflux. I am just surprised by the severity of the nausea at times. Am supposed be getting an endoscopy with ultrasound. Will this help with diagnosis?

Since you feel that the problem is not just GERD, I think it is wise to get a PET done.
