What Causes Chronic Insomnia After Injecting Crystal Meth?
Question: Hello. I recently had my third experience injecting crystal meth. It was supposed to be one injection for one night, but turned into more. The first injection was last Friday around 3:30pm. I believe I had three more between the first injection on Friday and Sunday Evening (not sure of the times). From everything I've read, it should be mostly out of my system and I should have crashed and slept. However, I have not slept since the previous Thursday night. I'm starting to worry that something may be very wrong, but I'm very afraid to seek medical help. How long should I ride this out before seeking medical help, and where do I start - urgent care?

Crystal meth peak is mostly done in 24-48 hours although the drug persists and is detectable for 90 days after the last usage in the hair follicle.
Normally after 24-48 hours of usage, a person should be able to sleep. But sometimes the drug can act strange and the effects have persisted way beyond 72 hours. This can happen and generally its self limiting. We can take some anti anxiety drugs like clonazepam or lorazepam to reduce the problem symptomatically, but in either case it will require a local doctor prescription. So that makes it essential for you to see a doctor in the ER.
Nothing to panic and some relaxation with anti-anxiety medicines will make you sleep. But next time, be sure that you don't use the recreational drugs.
