default
Posted on Tue, 27 Oct 2015
Question: my throat feels like someones choking me or like a lemon is caught in it and I also feel very tired and feverish with no energy but I dont have a fever. It happened last year and then went away and now its back. The only thing I remember is I took phentermine for weightloss around this time last year and now this year for two days and then noticed symptoms shortly after. That was a week ago and I still have symptoms. I went to several doctors and no one new what it was and thyroid levels were normal

Brief Answer:
Upper GI endoscopy should be considered

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

If it was a throat infection or reflux disease then it should have responded to the antibiotics and the PPIs or antacids (acid reducing drugs as you mentioned). If the difficulty in swallowing or choking sensation is increasing and has progressively increased related to food and water then other causes should be worked up. Blood counts, iron panel and ESR should be done. Provided the ENT examination is normal, Barium swallow and upper GI endoscopy can be advised in consultation with a gastroenterologist to determine the cause.
