What Causes Chest Pain With Anxiety?

default
Posted on Tue, 1 Apr 2014
Question: Is it normal to have throbbing pain in chest with anxiety? I have issues with anxiety and chest pain. There seems to be a tightness and soarness at the center of my chest that I call the limiting factor. Because it often limits my breathing with anxiety. I am attempting to do breathing exorcises to help. However, I noticed that when I sleep occasionally I wake up startled or in a panic and my heart starts beating rapidly. And I get a throbbing pain in the chest that corresponds to my heart beat. I am wondering where this pain comes from. A pounding sensation I hear is normal with anxiety. Some people feel like their heart is pounding out of their chest. What I was wondering is, is it normal to experience some pain along with the pounding? And is this pain from the heart or from somewhere else? Is it something to be concerned about?

I have had an ecg done a number of years ago when my chest pain issues started. I haven't had one recently. Recently I had an xray done of my stomach looking for possible gall bladder issues. But they never found anything. Is the 2d echocardiology similar to this?

Brief Answer: Repeat ECG this time Detailed Answer: Hi Greetings I would suggest a repeat ECG this time again. 2 D Echocardiography is equivalent to ultrasound scanning of the heart to rule out cardiac abnormality. So a thorough evaluation this time is all that is required. Do take care Best Regards Dr Deepak Kishore
