Question: My son played basketball and came home with his chest hurting and it hard to breathe and heart racing. He tried to eat but threw up. He did his nebulizer but still his chest hurts

No ...no chest trauma..he has had asthma but he hasn't had to use his inhaler in over a year and he plays basketball every wrek

No hes not allergic to anything... nothing this severe where yes throwing up with chills and then feeling hot and where it hurts to swallow

In my opinion, he is having upper respiratory tract infection (viral infection) which is causing sore throat, fever.
And this causes worsening of asthma symptoms.
Please let me know
1. Is there cold environment in your part of world?
2. Is any of his playmates has upper respiratory tract infection?
3. Is he having cough?
4. Is his symptoms decreased after nebulization?

No our weather is beautiful and no one he was playing with appeared to be sick. The nebulizer did not seem to help. There is no cough.

In my opinion , you should definitely take him to the hospital and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and chest x ray to rule out lung infection.
Since he is vomiting and can not hold oral tablets, he need intravenous injections.
He needs antibiotic, bronchodilator, anti emetic and other supportive drugs.
Once his breathing settles, get done PFT (pulmonary function test) know the severity of asthma. He may need regular inhaled treatment to prevent such exacerbation.
