What Causes Chest Pain Along With Back Pain?

default
Posted on Fri, 6 Oct 2017
Question: Yesterday I woke up with pain between my chest and my stomach it was in the center later soon after I went and vomited about an hour later. Malox helped some then it went away.
Today's soon after breakfast about an hour later I started having stomach pains and upper back pain. I went to get a massage that took care of my back pain but my stomach pain just kept getting worse. I thought originally maybe I was just hungry really hungry but after going to Subway and eating half of a 6in sandwich I realize that after eating half of a 6in sandwich that I wasn't that hungry but the pain still remain. I took two pills from Gas-X and I took some Pepto Bismol. And that only helped alleviate some. Before I did vomited on the side of my friend's vehicle. After taking Gas-X it did help me burp a little bit but I can't remember anytime since yesterday passing wind. So I think it's gas-related but my friends keep telling me is my gallbladder. Please help me! The pain has gone down some but the discomfort level is still pretty high. I hate to admit it but I took some Indica pot to see if it will help the pain but I still feel it.

Brief Answer:
Detailed evaluation is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic.
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.
The symptoms you have mentioned needs detailed evaluation to make a definite diagnosis.
Most likely cause may be gastritis.
I suggest you to consult a general physician or a gastroenterologist and get the following things done.
1.Get an ultrasound abdomen to look for any bowel conditions and stone diseases.
2.Do a serum amylase and lipase estimation to rule out pancreatitis which may present like these. Chances are more if you are an alcoholic.
Additional investigations may be needed depending on initial evaluation.
As of now you can take antacids drugs like pantoprazole to tackle gastritis. You can also take antispasmodic like cyclopam which is available over the counter.
Avoid fatty food stuffs and drink plenty of water.
Wishing you good health,
Thanks
