Question: How can I get my regular bowel movements to clump instead of coming frequently in small segments?

Thanks for query dear patient.
I have gone through your details and i appreciate your concerns.
Our gut has its own enviroment called gut flora.Because of age and a number of factors like medication ,prior surgeries etc the gastric flora is deplenished.Gut flora is the complex community of microorganisms that live in the digestive tracts of humans,The intestinal microflora is a complex ecosystem containing over 400 bacterial species. Anaerobes outnumber facultative anaerobes. The flora is sparse in the stomach and upper intestine, but luxuriant in the lower bowel.Destruction of this flora can cause changes in consistency of stools.
I would recommend you to take a course of probiotics so that the destroyed flora can be replenished ,once the intestinal flora will become normal,Gut mobility and digestionand absorbtion will improve leading to well formed stools.

Start taking fiber supplements like Metamucil in your diet add metamucil in XXXXXXX warm water and take it before going to bed.They are natural fibres which absorbs intestinal water swells up and increase consistency of stools.They help in formation of bulky stools.
Try to take Soluble fiber. They are thought to increase stool bulk and weight and therefore stool frequency . Insoluble fiber such as XXXXXXX is thought to accelerate intestinal transit time, thereby increasing stool frequency . Therefore soluble fibres woul be best for you.However increase fiber intake gradually and it should be around 25-30mg per day.
Include following foods in diet -Whole wheat, wheat XXXXXXX and whole-grain cereal products,Brown rice,Broccoli,Spinach,Apple guava banana and other fruits rich in fibers.

Take a lot of youghurt and lacobacillus supplements in food.

Life style changes will take at least 4 week to show changes,So follow them and remain patient.

Thank you. That's good information. I used to take probiotics and metamucil, but will begin again. I do eat a lot of yoghurt and fruits everyday. Sometimes I think I eat too many fruits, especially as the summer ones are coming in now. My grandmother used to call it "summer complaint."
