What Causes Burnt Tongue Feeling?
Question: I have felt like my tongue has been burned from eating something really hot. It has been a sudden thing and the only two things I have connected to it, was cortisone injections and a preventive antibiotic I take daily for recurring bladder infections.

I have gone through your history and your current symptoms.
It seems to me that you may have developed a fungal infection in your oral cavity termed as oral candidiasis (oral thrush). It is caused by an overgrowth of the yeast (fungus) Candida in the mouth, mainly on the tongue.
It usually occurs if the patient is on long term antibiotics or immunosuppressants like steroids. ( You seem to have both the precipitating factors). This suppresses the normal bacteria in the mouth and allows the overgrowth of the yeast causing the symptoms which you have.
You will need a course of antifungal like Fluconazole 50 mg by mouth for 5 days.
Alternatively, you could apply an antifungal paint containing 1% Clotrimozole twice a day on the tongue and the buccal mucosa after your meals.
This will suppress the fungal overgrowth.
You could do this for 2 weeks and then stop.
However, if you continue your steroid shots and suppressive antibiotics, you may have a tendency to develop oral candidiasis again. You may then need to reapply the clotrimozole paint for 7-10 days.
