What Causes Burning Sensation In Throat?

default
Posted on Mon, 30 Nov 2015
Question: Hi,

I am suffering from lot of burning on my throat. When I eat something spicy or very salty the burning is more on throat.

My T3(85.03) and T4(7.40) are normal but high TSH(15.5) and ANTI-THYROGLOBULIN ANTIBODIES(113.70) and ANTI-THYROID PEROXIDASE ANTIBODIES(>1300)

Please note that I used lot of salt on bathtub water and uses to sit in bathtub and I felt stomach pain and weakness after 7-8 days of using salt water on my bathtub then I stopped using salt and after 2 months I did above thyroid tests.

Please suggest how serious these values are what it could be and what are the treatment options. What other test should I do? If it has happened due to using salt water in bathtub then what can I do any test to confirm as I am in a really bad pain and burning on my throat and chest.

Thanks
doctor

Brief Answer:
You are most probably having Thyroiditis + throat infection .

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for the query.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

After reading your clinical history & investigation it appears that you are most probably having combination of conditions like Thyroiditis (Inflammation of thyroid tissue) & throat infection .

In my opinion , your present condition as no relation with using salt water in bathtub 2 month back.

If I were your treating doctor , I would advice
consult ENT specialist for throat - thyroid examination & treatment .

Till then , I would advice
Use syrup Mucaine gel 2 spoon 10 mins before meal to decrease burning ,
Tab limcee (Vitamin C) Twice daily to promote throat healing ,
Tab paracetamol 650mg twice daily for pain &
antiseptic mouth wash like chlorhexidine twice daily for throat infection.

For thyroiditis , you will need Tab Thyronorm 75 mg (Thyroxine) in morning for a month then repeat thyroid profile blood tests .

You will get relief .
You will need to see your doctor to get a prescription.

Hope this information helpful to you .If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

Regards.
