What Causes Burning Sensation During Urination?

default
Posted on Fri, 26 Dec 2014
Question: Hi, I have had burning at the end of urinating on and off for the last week. I have also had some weak spotting in between periods for the last week as well, and have taken the birth control pill consistently for 5 years without ever missing a pill.I got tested for a UTI and STD's and pregnancy last Monday, but everything came back negative. It seems it's worse a day after intercorse. I don't know what else it could be. The pain and burning sensation feels like a UTI But tests are negative?

I thought it had gone away mid last week, but this morning it's back.

Brief Answer:
It looks like Non gonococcal urethritis...

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I understand your concern.
I am Dr. Arun Tank, infectious diseases specialist, answering your query.

You have the classical presentation of the Non Gonococcal urethritis (NGU).

NGU is caused by variety of organisms which can't be detected in the culture, though you have burning micturition.

It is most common is sexually active couples.

You can take Doxycycline with Tinidazole for treatment of NGU. Please take the medication under your doctors guidance.

So treatment for both the partner simultaneously is necessary.

Please avoid intercourse or wear condom till you complete treatment or you are free of infections.

Please drink plenty of water, it helps to flush such organisms.

I will be happy to answer your further concern, you can ask me on bit.ly/DrArun.
Thank you.
