Brief Answer: I have given suggestions to prevent / solve it... Detailed Answer: Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query. I understand that you are have been having the symptom of burning sensation during urination since childhood. Now, there can be many causes for this symptom: 1) Dehydration - due to inadequate water intake or due to excessive heat 2) Urinary or genito-urinary infections. Sometimes, there can be chronic infections like chronic prostatitis, etc. which can cause long-time symptoms. 3) Other urinary problems like uretric / kidney stones, etc. 4) Sometimes, some allergic reactions like allergies to soap or lotions can also cause this problem. The first step which I would like to advise you is to have a proper evaluation in order to find out if there any possible problems like infections, stones, etc. So, I recommend that you have the following investigations: - Urine routine examination - Urine Culture & Sensitivity - KUB X-ray I would also advise you the following things to prevent or reduce your symptoms: - Drink at least 3 litres of water a day. - Don't hold your urine for long - urinate as soon as you get a sensation to urinate and urinate at regular intervals. - Avoid eating very spicy and very sugary foods. They can irritate the linings of your bladder and cause urinary burning or discomfort. - Avoid drinking alcohol and caffeinated beverages like tea, coffee. They also tend to stimulate bladder irritation and also cause dehydration. - Avoid certain foods like tomatoes, citrus fruits and too much meat. - Avoid using perfumed soaps or strong cosmetics - better to use a mild or herbal soap. - If you are sexually acitive, then practice safe and hygenic sexual practices. Urinate after sexual activity to flush out bacteria from the urethra. I hope you will benefit from these suggestions. You can get back to me after doing the tests that I have advised.
