What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge After Periods?

Question: I have been taking ovranette pill for six years now. Last month I ran two packs together. I had my period as normal after this but then a week after my period I noticed some very light brown discharge that was a little pink the next day. Is this just breakthrough bleeding or could it be implantation bleeding either? If it is implantation bleeding How soon after it can I take a home pregnancy test?

Brief Answer: DETAILS ARE GIVEN BELOW. Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for writing to us. First of all, you get NORMAL period and there is NO chance pregnancy at all. Light brown discharge, a week after period may be due to hormonal imbalance, caused by overdosing of contraceptive pills. Mental stress, pelvic infection can cause this type of bleeding or discharge. Second thing, possibility of implantation bleeding is extremely RARE in this case and it occurs 5 to 7 days prior to next due date in most cases. Lastly, you have to wait for next coming period and you can undergo home pregnancy test soon after missed period. However, blood for beta-hCG test can be done one week prior to due date.
