What Causes Broken Blood Vessel Behind The Eye?

default
Posted on Sat, 20 Jun 2015
Question: Hello, I have a broken blood vessel behind an eye. It was thought at first to be a sign of a possible brain tumor. But I had 3 MRI's, each two years apart and no tumor. It has been studied by my eye doctor for 5 years now and never has there been any change. It hangs in a corkscrew shape, severed. My question is: What else could have caused this? (seems that any other reason is being totally ignored)

Brief Answer:
It seems to be like vitreous hemorrhage.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic.

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that you are having a broken blood vessel behind the eye. This indicates a probable hemorrhage in the vitreous or retina in the form of vitreous hemorrhage.

Since MRI is normal no need to be worried about possibility of brain tumor.

The other causes for this are vitreous hemorrhage which can occur following posterior vitreous detachment, diabetic retinopathy, vein occlusions, inflammations of the eye like uveitis...

Hence more likely this is caused by your eye conditions and no need to be worried about brain tumor.

Hence do send me the reports of eye examination so that I analyze further and answer your question more accurately.

Hope this information is helpful to you.
