Question: I just started taking enbrel for psoriatic arthritis. I have some large gallstones. Every time I give myself a shot the next day my stool is yellow. Today it is bright orange and yellow and stings when I go (acidic?). The stool returns to normal the next day. What would this be and should I stop the enbrel? I have a Dr appt next week.....

Brief Answer:
Stomach discomfort=side effect of Enbrel...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Enbrel contains the active ingredient called etanercept.

It is reported that use of Enbrel is associated with stomach pain and abdominal discomfort. This will alter (reduce) the pH of the stomach.

The more acidic the pH of stomach will be, the more frequent and acidic the stool would be. That's why they are yellow in color.

If I was your caring doctor would evaluate the status of your large gallstones through:
- abdominal ultrasound
- liver function tests

You can discuss my options further with your Dr.

Hope it helped!
