Question: I have this jittery nerve sensations come and go, the usually include muscle spasms of some sort. I also have other symptoms that can come with them such as breathing issues, sleeping issues, swallowing or producing saliva, and eye swells or feels as though it is swelling. numbness and tingling in toes. I do have some balance issues too. I also had a paralysis on one side of my face but it went away. It feels like my nerves are shot when it shouldn't. I also suffer from extreme fatigue. Could these be MS and how do I get that assessed? I do not have a primary as I moved awhile ago.

I forgot to include that I also have muscle weakness.

Brief Answer:
Multiple sclerosis is the most likely condition.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM,

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Neurological symptoms that come and go are more probably to be related to multiple sclerosis, however other causes of your symptoms are possible too.

The symptoms you refer are meet mostly on the remitting/relapsing course of MS.

Offcourse there are also other possible conditions that may cause your symptoms such acute disseminated encephalomyelitis ( if you hah a bad flu recently and symptoms appeared after it ), spinal cord and brainstem lesions such syringomyelia etc., peripheral neuropathy mostly related to vitamin B12 deficiency etc.

To achieve a correct diagnosis there is need for a neurological examination by a Neurologist, brain and spinal cord MRI, blood tests about vitamin B12 levels, spinal tap and nerve conduction study.

I suggest you to discuss these issues with a Neurologist.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.
