What Causes Body Aches, Nausea, Gas And Chills?

default
Posted on Fri, 4 Jul 2014
Question: Last night I suddenly started having body aches followed by chills. At one point my hands were so cold, I could barely move them. I took an aspirin and felt slightly better, but I still have the body aches and chills. I do not have a fever or any respiratory issues. I thought it may be something I ate because I feel slightly nauseous. So far I have vomited, but I do have this kind of gassy feeling? I currently have my period. Could this be related to that?

Brief Answer:
Body Aches

Detailed Answer:
Hello.Delighted to be able to help.
Body aches followed by chills are usually initial symptoms of fever-infection but if you do not have fever now, the diagnosis is ruled out.
Your symptoms may be related to period but too with stress-anxiety:gassy feeling, chills, nausea are symptoms of anxiety.
Do you have stress in your family or work life?
An important point: Aspirin relieves body aches but is contraindicated during period because it increases the menstrual bleeding. Ibuprofen 600 mg thrice a day can be taken for treating your body aches.
I Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be happy to help.If you do not have any clarifications, please don’t forget to evaluate my answer.I wish you good health.

Thank you for getting back to me. After I wrote my question, I actually did develop a fever along with the body aches. I took an Ibuprofen pain reliever which help the body aches and fever. The next day, I woke up with a fever blister on my lip. I put ointment on it and it did help however during the course of the day I developed more of these on my lip, face and nose. My entire mouth seems to be covered with canker sores that hurt so much I can even talk, eat or brush (I've been gargling with warm salt water). I am also having mild eye, ear and throat pain and a mild cough. I don't understand why this is happening to me and unfortunately I do not have health insurance to see a doctor. Could all these be the sign of a larger problem?

Brief Answer:
Pneumonia

Detailed Answer:
Hello.Delighted to be able to help.
I think that referred signs dont means a larger problem;however in a person with fever, cough and blisters on lips, it is necessary to rule out pneumonia (lower respiratory tract infection)
To rule out Pneumonia, besides of examination, it is necessary to make a chest radiography
If Pneumonia is confirmed, an antobiotic must be prescribed.
