What Causes Blurred Vision During Bowel Movements?

default
Posted on Tue, 3 Feb 2015
Question: Dear Dr,

The question I'm about to ask might sound a bit funny and strange, but it's been bothering me for days now.

When I "push" (gently) during bowel movements I experience the "sudden shaky vision" that people usually get from eye twitching. I used to strain at stool but these days I try to push as gently as possible because I know straining hard can do a lot of harm.

I heard that the parasympathetic nervous system controls or deals with both the bowel and eye muscles? Is this the reason I experience the eye twitching effect? Is this something I need to be concerned about? Will this affect my vision?

Thank you in advance.

Brief Answer:
Not to be worried

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
I read your query and understand your concern
First let me assure you that the symptoms you are suffering aren't related to any parasympathetic disorder.
I read carefully your symptoms and your previous eye problem and it seems that you are suffering the same problem again
Dear you need to be careful when you change body position and probably at that moment you may have low blood pressure
In my opinion that is the cause of your symptoms, hypotension
It isn't a disease so you don't have to worry
Just measure blood pressure when you are experiencing those symptoms in both arms
or test by changing body position immediately
You should avoid caffein abuse or energy drinks and should take healthy diet full of liquids (but no caffein)
Your vision is safe don't worry and it won't be damaged even if symptoms persist I can assure you about that
Hope my answer has helped you
Feel free to ask about further questions or queries
Stay healthy
