Brief Answer:
different possible causes

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Blood in the urine (hematuria) can be due to different possible causes.

These include: (1) infection- this is one of the more common causes , a sample of urine would need to be tested at the office and possibly sent to the lab. Antibiotics would be needed if confirmed

(2)trauma- if you had recent abdominal or pelvic trauma

(3)stones or any masses (can be benign or cancerous) in the urinary tract

(4)history of disease of the prostate- enlargement of the prostate can cause bleeding, infection of the prostate can also cause this problem

(5)cysts in the kidneys

(6)blood disorder

(7)side effect of medication eg meds such as warfarin or other blood thinners

(8)idiopathic- in some cases, the cause is not found

At this point, you should consider seeing your doctor for assessment. He or she would examine your abdomen and test the urine in office to see if blood is noted.

Depending on the findings further tests may be needed eg urine sent to the lab as mentioned, ultrasound to take a look at the urinary tract

Treatment would depend on the cause found.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
