What Causes Blood In Urine?

default
Posted on Fri, 1 Jul 2016
Question: I am a 44 year old female. just had my annual exam. they found blood in my urine but they weren't alarmed as they had just caused me to bleed with a biopsy of my uterine walls. I gave the urine sample after that biopsy so then had me come on 3 weeks later to retest. still a small amount of blood. now I am freaking out. is it possible to have an infection with no symptoms other than that small amount of blood? no pain. no burning. some cloudy urine at times. sometimes not.

Brief Answer:
Blood in urine

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns.

You recently had an annual physical and on the physical they found blood in your urine and a subsequent urine still showed a trace of blood. This is very common and usually means absolutely nothing. But I think your doctor will proceed with further testing to see if there are any reasons for the blood in the urine. They may order a ultrasound of the kidney or order a cystoscopy. The reason for the additional testing is to rule out cancer of the kidney. Though rare it can be found with blood in the urine as its only symptom. I would not get too worried about it because in more screening we find nothing wrong. It is just to be sure there is nothing there that is causing the blood in the urine.
