What Causes Blood In Urine?

default
Posted on Sat, 20 Jun 2015
Question: I am a 78 year old male in good health, now traveling. 24 hours ago I passed a small amount of blood at the end of urination. Since then, the bloodiness has dissipated, and my urine was clear (almost) in the last 3 hrs. I am not anxious to return home (1000 miles) and reluctant to seek care here in NYC. I am in no pain. I have never had these symptoms before. My plan is to simply monitor my urine, and seek care only if the blood continues. If the blood disappears I will simply report the incident to my primary care physician on Monday. Is this a prudent course? YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
Yes Monday is still safe for you.

Detailed Answer:
Good Day and thank you for being with Healthcare Magic!

If there is no pain and the blood in the urine does not return then i believe you can wait until Monday to get medical checkup. Your primary physician needs to do a routine urinalysis to check for infection and a kidney bladder prostate ultrasound to check for other causes of bleeding in the urine. a serum PSA determination will also be helpful to properly diagnose and consequently form management plan for you.
