What Causes Blood In Urine?
Question: discovered blood in urine for the first time this morning. additional urinations also contained blood.
how concerned should I be, and how fast should I be seeking medical attention from an urologist ( is this the right specialist?)

Hello,
if you're not having any symptoms then investigation is needed but it's not urgent. Malignancy should be excluded first. Gross hematuria may cause the formation of blood clots which may occlude the urinary tract and cause excruciating symptoms and perhaps kidney damage.
Blood in the urine can be benign also, like the passage of a stone (usually painful), glomerulonephritis (which is an inflammation of the kidneys), urinary tract infections (cystitis without fever, pyelonephritis with fever) etc.
Because serious diagnoses are possible, investigation is needed although if you're not having any symptoms, it doesn't have to be done today. It has to be done very soon though.
